All about content development for a website

Content is any written, visual or downloadable material that you place (post) on your blog or website. Why content creation and planning is so important? Because when a user types a keyword or a key phrase in Google/Yahoo/Bing etc. to find some necessary information, search engine analyses all sources that have a potential answer to this request. And if your website has it, has content that corresponds to the phrase, then there are more chances that your platform will appear at the top of Google listing. But as we all know The World Wide Web has a bazillion of websites that creates high competition for a user’s attention. That’s why search engines have very complicated algorithms that evaluate content by many criteria. For example, how quickly a user leaves the page, website speed, backlinks from other web sources, and so on.

What content must have?

First of all, content should have keywords that your potential clients may use to find services or products that you offer. Then it supposes to be interesting or useful to make a user stay and read an article. If he lives in a couple of seconds, it means that it’s not what he was looking for. Your website’s bounce rate rises up and Google most likely won’t place you above other competitors, taking into account the fact that people leave the page very fast. Because again for Search Engine it’s the main goal to provide the most relevant websites to people.

Why do I need to write articles for other related themes and not only about my services/products? 

For example, you sell clothing, then you can write articles about what is in trend now, what fabric is the most popular, what choose celebrities and so on. Even if people come to your website not with a goal to buy your product, they do a good favor for you by visiting and staying at the website. And what if in a month your Google Analytics shows that the website has been visited 1000 times, people have read articles about celebrities, about fabric, and so on. Then let’s say there is a competitor who sells the same stuff as you, he has a website and contains the same keywords. How Google will choose whom to place first in the listing? It will choose to rely on overall users visits. Your website may win this race, because compering to others your platform is more “crowded”, it’s more interesting for people, they stay there longer and it’s visited more often.

Permanency

The most important is to keep it continuing. You can create a content calendar and assign what days you share articles or photos. Or you may dedicate 1-2 days for just content creation and then make it scheduled for specific days to be published. You don’t know what to write in your post? Do rewriting, see what other sellers write take their articles like an example and write your own. Never just copy the content, Google will ban it. If you are writing in your native language, awesome, if not you should still keep trying. Like me, I’m sure you will find some grammar mistakes, but only practice makes perfect.

Crossposting

After you wrote an article, don’t forget to share it on your company’s social media accounts. If you don’t want to make it manually, you can use Hootsuite, where you can choose 3 social networks for free. Every time you create a new post Hootsuite will automatically share it with these 3 networks. Another good reason to have it posted to social media is that Facebook or Twitter will have backlinks to your website. First, a user may go to your article that creates a +1 visit of your website. Second, having backlinks from reliable sources is very important for SEO. Google notices that this web platform has links from other websites (and it’s highly recommended to have it from reliable sources), and it also adds more “scores” to your site and more chances to get to the top of Google.
