Sometimes I am facing a problem with accessing the admin-panel of a website, it can be or a white screen or a login and password do not work, and the recovery letter never arrives in the mail. This may happen after plugins update, less often due to wp-engine updates, the reason also can be some incorrect settings in the .htaccess file. So what to do if suddenly a white screen appears on the site and you cannot enter the admin panel. Here are some practical tips.
1. Deactivate plugins
There may be a conflict of plugins, to check this, access your website through ftp, find the wp-content/plugins folder and rename it to “plugin”, for example, and this will already be enough to forcibly deactivate all plugins and you can enter the admin panel. Then the folder must be renamed back, and the plugins must be activated through the admin-panel one at a time to track which one could be causing the problem.
2. .htaccess file
Check the file, maybe accidentally you added some settings there and it caused the block. First, download it to your computer, just in case you will need it. And then delete it on the server to check if it helps. To see the file in CyberDuck, you need to click on View/Show hidden files.
3. Chane login credentials via phpMyAdmin
And another option, if suddenly you cannot enter the site, you believe that you are entering the username and password correctly, but the email to reset the password for some reason does not come. Then go to your hosting, phpMyAdmin, you need to select the database that is tied to this site. To find out which one (if there are several databases), go to wp-config, the video says wp-config-sample, this is just an example.
Open wp-config.php and look at the name of the database. Then go to phpMyAdmin, look in the wp-users table, and write a new password, click Go.
